Burg Rheinfels
Built in 1245 to protect tax collectors from the nearby town of Sankt Goar, Burg Rheinfels stood as a mighty fortress for more than four hundred years. By the late 17th century, it was the only fortress left on the west bank of the Rhine but it managed to hold on against invading forces until 1794 when it was handed over to the French. A couple of years later, much of the walls and the castle itself were blown up, and the remains are what you see today.

Monte Alban
Besides being one of the earliest cities of Mesoamerica, Monte Albán was important for nearly one thousand years as the pre-eminent Zapotec socio-political and economic center. Founded toward the end of the Middle Formative period at around 500 BC, by the Terminal Formative (c. 100 BC – AD 200) Monte Albán had become the capital of a large-scale expansionist polity that dominated much of the Oaxacan highlands and interacted with other Mesoamerican regional states, such as Teotihuacan to the north. The city lost its political pre-eminence by the end of the Late Classic (c. AD 500–750), and soon thereafter was largely abandoned.

Perroquia de San Miguel de Allende
The construction of the Parroquia de San Miguel Arcángel de San Miguel de Allende began in 1555 and ended in 1649. The chosen design was that of a Latin cross, which would house a main nave, a crypt and two side chapels. After a strong earthquake the building had to be repaired, concluding the work in 1709. Almost 200 years later, in 1880, it was decided to improve the façade and the atrium, transforming the original Plateresque architectural proposal of this parish of San Miguel de Allende , by a neo-gothic one.
