Morro Rock
Morro Rock is a volcanic plug in Morro Bay, California, on the Pacific Coast at the entrance to Morro Bay harbor. A causeway connects it with the shore, making it a tied island. The rock is protected as the Morro Rock State Preserve.

From the Spanish island of Formentera, a sinking sun burns into the Mediterainian Sea. Formentera is the smallest of Spain’s Balearic islands and is reachable by ferry from its more crowded, better known island neighbor, Ibiza.

Great Sand Dunes
Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve in southern Colorado is known for huge dunes like the towering Star Dune, and for the seasonal Medano Creek and beach created at the base of the dunes. The backcountry Medano Pass Primitive Road winds through a canyon toward the Sangre de Cristo mountains. Trails lead to forests, wetlands and alpine lakes like Medano Lake, which is home to trout and tundra wildlife.

This stretch of the Pecos River runs near Santa Fe. It originates in north-central New Mexico and flows into Texas, emptying into the Rio Grande. The headwaters originate on the eastern slope of the Sangre de Cristo mountain range in Mora County north of Pecos, New Mexico, at an elevation of over 12,000 feet.

White Sands
White Sands National Park is located in the state of New Mexico approximately 15 miles southwest of Alamogordo. The white "sand" is actually formed by the Gypsum mineral rather than sand. If rain fell more frequently on the dunes, they would melt.

Redwoods of California
Average mature trees are from 200 to 240 feet high with diameters of 10 to 15 feet at 4 feet 8 inches above the ground. Exceptional individuals sometimes reach a height of 350 feet, a diameter of over 20 feet, and an age of approximately 2000 years. Redwood National and State Parks are a string of protected forests, beaches and grasslands along Northern California’s coast.
